Torrebruna is an ancient mountain village located on the slopes of the Apennines close to the aforementioned mountain of Torrebruna and southeast of the Carunchina and Civitella hills. Its position dominates the Trigno river valley beyond which the province of Campobasso extends. The top of the mountain above, which is located at 1 150 m.s.l.m , dominates a landscape that includes, in addition to the valley of the aforementioned Trigno, the Majella, the towns of Molise, the Gargano, the Adriatic Sea, the Tremiti islands.
Fortified village of Torrebruna. The first plan dates to 13th century with transformations in eighteenth century. The layout of the village is made up of concentric rings at the highest point of which is the parish church. The village was placed in surveillance of the tratturo Ateleta-Biferno he was born in Forca delli Colli pass and probably had a watchtower complete with a fence that gradually, perhaps, has assumed the connotations of an urban form with a primitive center which was located between Via Orientale and Largo della Torre. The gate is currently preserved from the wall “by feet” o Porta della Mirella and the house-walls of Via Orientale with a circular tower with a scarpa from 1320 similar to the towers of Monteodorisio. Despite various geological instability in the nineteenth century which subsequently led to various demolitions, the village still maintains a certain compactness and integrity in the blocks, in the alleys and under-portici.
