Chieti
Chieti is located in the central-eastern part of Abruzzo, a 330 metri sul livello del mare, on a hill that divides the waters of the river basin Aterno-Pescara (to the north) from those of the river breath (to the south).
The city enjoys a favorable geographical position, both because it is close to the Adriatic coast and the mountain masses of the Maiella he was born in Gran Sasso with related and imaginable landscapes (has been defined “the Abruzzo terrace” and “the aerial city”), and because it is served by the main transport networks on the Adriatic side of Central Italy.
The city is divided into two main centers, Chieti Alta and Chieti Scalo. Chieti Scalo is instead the most modern and industrial part of the city. Located north of the hill and extended to the right bank of the Aterno-Pescara river, it developed mainly following the ancient path via Tiburtina Valeria (which in the urban section is renamed and subdivided into via Aterno, viale Abruzzo, viale Benedetto Croce and viale Unità d'Italia) and of Rome-Pescara railway. Through the development of this part of the city, Chieti has merged and integrated into’metropolitan area of Pescara-Chieti, which reaches a total population of approx 350.000 inhabitants[7]. The Chieti Scalo area in particular hosts numerous university students on the campus of’University “Gabriele d’Annunzio” in via dei Vestini.
Climate: typically Mediterranean, and benefits from the influences of marine origin (the city is just over 10 kilometers in the Chieti Scalo area), but at the same time it is affected by the influence of Maiella, from which it is about 25 – 30 km. Source: wikipedia
