Living in Abruzzo, Want Alfonsina
Want Alfonsina, the charm of origins shrouded in mystery
Among the villages of the province of Chieti, Want Alfonsina is what it is, perhaps, has its origins more shrouded in mystery. He, indeed, according to some sources, the town was founded in the 16th century by the feudal lord Alfonso Caracciolo, Prince of San Buono and Baron of Casalbordino, other attestations suggest that Villalfonsina was born by the Schiavoni who, driven by the Turkish advance, they had arrived in the territory through the Osento river. Evidence of this settlement could be in the bulbous domed bell tower of the parish. The uncertainty of the origins is also reflected in the conformation of the ancient village, with its houses arranged in a comb along the two sides of the main road axis, represented by Corso Adriatico.
